Business Continuance/Disaster Recovery

STI has been building Business Continuity (BC) and Disaster Recovery (DR) for our clients since 1989. STI will assist with your BC/DR planning by conducting a BC/DR assessment. This assessment will identify the critical business systems and applications, application dependencies, time to recovery objectives (TTR) and service level agreements in place today. A gap analysis is conducted identifying areas of improvement along with a series of recommendations to meet the stated business goals.

Business Continuity

STI is guided by your business objectives and works with you to best understand your specific industry and markets. We typically perform a Diagnostic Assessment of your business during which we focus on several different areas.

  • Business Processes
  • Functional Requirements
  • Operational Considerations and Constraints
  • Financial Resources
  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Systems Reliability
  • Data Integrity
  • Information Security
  • Organization
  • Human Resources and Culture

Design Methodology

Our approach to developing the optimal Data Management solution for your institution consists of these major activities:

  1. Vulnerability Analysis
    - Identification of vulnerabilities to significant service interruptions
    - Definition of preventive measures that may be taken to minimize the probability and impact of such interruptions, focused on quick hits
  2. Business Interruption Impact Assessment
    - Determination of the impact of these exposures (to interruptions of normal operations)
    - This activity relies heavily on the involvement of senior management to identify financial/economic, regulatory, legal, and operational implications of an extended service interruption
  3. Gap Analysis
Identification of business costs and quantitative analysis of deficiencies needed to be corrected, so as to be able to:
    - Prioritize business resumption strategies
    - Minimize the potential occurrence and impact of a loss of service
  4. Design of Support Strategies
    - Identification and evaluation of alternatives and recommendations for the most cost-effective approach consistent with these business priorities
    - Development of a corrective action plan reflecting the above priorities, to address the exposures identified

Business Continuity Planning

Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is a collection of management processes designed to provide organizational persistence during and following a business disaster.

A BCP combines a variety of unique skills encompassing project and crisis management. These skills involve preparing the business for resumption as well as the implementation of methods for uninterrupted business performance.

In the interests of stakeholders, employees, and senior level management, business continuity should be employed to preserve all business processes, warding off any chance for business cessation. By implementing compensating controls, you have a better determination of the outcome of a disaster.

When disaster strikes, your Business Continuity Plan drives and shapes how your organization behaves by defining how resources are used to control and restore order, preserving both intangible as well as tangible values.
